2020 Vision: Contending for the Faith, Challenging the Culture

How’s your vision? Are you a natural 20/20, or do you need glasses/contacts to get there? We’d all love to see 20/20, but often we need help to do that.

Wisconsin Family Council certainly doesn’t have perfect vision, but we do see clearly enough to know 2020 is coming; and it’s filled with incredible opportunities for people of true faith to make a real and positive difference in our communities, state and nation. In this presentation, WFC/WFA president Julaine Appling will help bring clarity to our collective vision as we consider the high stakes in 2020 and how we can effectively contend for our faith and challenge the culture in the months ahead.

Schools across Wisconsin are heading back to classes soon, and it’s important for students and parents to know their rights.

Parents need to be aware of radical sex education that the school district may be pushing.

We encourage all parents to thoroughly review the sex-education curriculum at their child’s school. Far too often, groups like Planned Parenthood and pro-LGBT groups seek to use sex-education curriculum in schools to advance their agendas. Parents have the right to know what is being taught to their children and the ability to opt-out from any sex-education class or program.

A Lifesite News article features Kristen Jenson and Jonathan Van Maren dealing with one of the critical issues in our culture: pornography. Jenson, founder of Protect Young Minds and mother of three, and author of Good Pictures, Bad Pictures: Porn-Proofing Today’s Young Kids, works to help parents porn-proof their homes and their children. Van Maren featured her on a podcast.  Jenson and Van Maren note that children don’t choose “to grow up in a culture where access to pornography is everywhere. But parents choose to give them access, whether they know it or not.”
 
How true this is. Parents can use the best filters, best parental controls and enforce usage rules, but ultimately the best thing they can do for their children is to build in internal controls. As Jenson says, kids need to be persuaded that pornography is dangerous, and that instruction and discipling needs to start in age-appropriate ways very early-on.
