John, I survived the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
I remember the fear in my friends’ eyes. I remember texting my family, thinking it might be the last time.
I also remember what came after — the politicians who showed up to the cameras with their promises and their platitudes. Pam Bondi was one of them.
She stood with us. She invoked our pain. She swore she would fight to prevent another tragedy. And then? She broke her promise and proceeded to do the gun lobby’s bidding.
She revoked oversight on gun dealers. She defunded violence prevention programs. She erased memorials to victims like the friends I lost.
Now she wants to pretend we’ve forgotten.
We haven’t. And we won’t.
Already with your support, we’ve been able to drive a mobile billboard through the streets of Miami and DC raising awareness of Pam Bondi’s broken promises. Take a look:
This isn’t politics for me. It’s survival. I lived through the horror Pam Bondi promised to prevent, and now she’s making it more likely to happen again.
Let’s remind Pam Bondi and all politicians who turn their backs on people for gun lobby profit just how powerful young people are.
Onwards,
Jackie
