Hi John,

As we kick off August, Republicans in Congress hit the pause button on Congress’ work. After passing their Big, Ugly Law that will make life harder for working families and doing nothing to lower the cost of living for the last six months, Republicans skipped town to start their summer break early.

Pushed by Trump, their reckless law cuts critical health care, food assistance, education, and energy programs that lower costs — all to pay for huge tax breaks for the wealthiest corporations and richest individuals in our country. It’s a cruel choice that puts stability and opportunity out of reach for everyone except those at the very top.

As Republicans head off for their summer recess, they are leaving hardworking Americans to deal with the disastrous fallout — higher costs, less support, and more uncertainty.

I’m not going to sit back and let this happen. I’m fighting every day to push back against Trump’s harmful policies and actions. I am committed to standing up for the people of Rhode Island. And we CAN win.
