Positive, lasting change is coming to countless working Americans and families across the nation thanks to the One Big Beautiful Bill. Indeed, this is a big deal. There are many important wins that you deserve to know about that Republicans in Congress have secured for American workers and families in communities across our nation. Allow me to highlight a handful of them to you.

Per the House Ways and Means Committee, this is what the One Big Beautiful Bill means for hardworking Americans and families:

  • The typical family will get up to $10,900 in additional take-home pay.
  • Households earning less than $100,000 get a 12 percent tax cut compared to today.
  • Up to 7.2 million jobs protected and will create 1 million new jobs by small businesses.
  • No tax on tips, overtime pay, car loan interest, and tax relief for seniors will put more money annually in Americans' pockets.
  • Workers will see increased wages up to $7,200.
  • Enhanced tax deductions that will help Main Street job creators as well as America’s family farmers expand, hire more employees, and invest more in their communities.
  • A permanently expanded death tax exemption.

And here’s the truth: if this legislation had not passed and been signed into law by President Trump, Americans would have seen the largest tax hike – to the tune of $4.5 trillion – in our nation’s history. Families would have experienced fiscal ruin in the absence of the One Big Beautiful Bill. Thankfully, Republicans in the House and Senate acted with expediency to deliver it to the President’s desk. In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing more facts about the One Big Beautiful Bill so that you can see an even bigger picture of the positive impact that it will make on this country for years to come.

A Bipartisan Effort

On Tuesday, I introduced the Protect Economic and Academic Freedom Act alongside Representative Josh Gottehimer (D-NJ). This legislation prohibits colleges and universities from receiving federal student aid if they engage in commercial boycotts dictated by those in the boycott-sanction-divest (BDS) movement. Time and again we have seen antisemitic rot corrode college campuses across the nation. Enough is enough. If an institution of higher education chooses to capitulate to the caustic BDS movement, there will be consequences – starting with this bipartisan legislation.

Speaking of antisemitic rot on college campuses…

My Thoughts on Columbia University

Recently, Columbia University owned up to its failures to confront antisemitic discrimination and harassment on its campus by paying a fine to the U.S. Treasury. I saw this rampant antisemitism first-hand when I joined Speaker Johnson and several of my colleagues on a trip to the university’s campus last year. It was truly abhorrent. And while the University is owning up to its failures, it remains clearer than ever that more can and should be done on the part of the university to protect Jewish students, faculty, and staff. The university has a very long way to go if it is to ever retain a shred of credibility or respect in the eyes of many.

A Piece of American History

With America’s 250th anniversary less than a year away, I believe it’s particularly pertinent to share some facts about different pieces of our history as a nation. Every week, I’m going to share a new fact with you, from verified sources, that you may or may not have read about before. Thomas Jefferson is commonly credited with writing the Declaration of Independence, and while he did contribute to different portions of this sacred document, he was not the sole author. Timothy Matlack, who was the assistant to the Secretary of the Second Continental Congress, was the individual whose penmanship adorns the document – all written via quill.
