Volunteer Opportunity: Heights Fest

You can help make this community event a success! Volunteer to help out:

*Kids Fest*: Volunteers are needed to help with line management and making sure kids are safely using bounce houses and other activities.

*Mini and Me Golf Tournament*: Volunteers are needed to help run mini games at individual holes that will add a twist to the round.

Speed Safety Cameras

As part of a four-year pilot program through the state of Minnesota, the Police Department is implementing a new Speed Safety Camera System to deter speeding and reduce traffic accidents near schools and in residential neighborhoods; enforcement begins August 1.

MSP
MSP Runway Construction

Phase 2 of runway/airside improvements at MSP begins Aug. 18 and is expected to wrap up by Sept. 26. Runway 12R-30L, the south-parallel, will be temporarily closed during this time. Airport runway and taxi traffic will be adjusted to accommodate the temporary runway closure with the least operational disruptions. Flights that would normally use the south parallel runway will be assigned to one of three other MSP runways during the project.

During runway closures, FAA’s Air Traffic Control will direct aircraft to use open runways and aircraft may land and depart on runways that are not typical. Runway use and airport configurations are determined by the FAA and will vary depending upon wind, air traffic demand and other operational factors. Residents may notice unusual flight patterns and noise levels while construction and maintenance activities are occurring.
