Wishing All Coloradans A Happy Colorado Day!

Governor Polis smiles for a photo standing next to the Rockies' mascot, Dinger, a purple triceratops dressed in a baseball jersey.

Happy Colorado Day! Today, Colorado, the centennial state, celebrates our 149th birthday. On Colorado Day, communities across the state gather to celebrate our great state. In 2026, the United States of America will celebrate our 250th anniversary and Colorado will celebrate our 150th anniversary.

I encourage Coloradans to get out and explore the fun, free and discounted events in our communities and Celebrate everything Colorado. I celebrated Colorado Day 2025 with visits to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Denver Zoo, and the Adams County Fair.

Looking Ahead to Colorado’s 150th Birthday

A blue logo for the 150-250 Commission with mountains and the Colorado symbol that reads "150-250."

As we look forward to Colorado’s sesquicentennial in 2026, the America 250 - Colorado 150 Commission is leading Colorado’s commemoration of 150 years of statehood and 250 years of American independence in 2026. The Colorado General Assembly and I established the Commission to bring together leaders from across the state to guide this historic milestone.

The 250 - 150 Commission invites all Coloradans to join the celebration in 2026 through our key initiatives, like Historic Preservation, Colorado Passport Program, and Print-On-Demand Exhibition.
