Dear John, Last week was a special week for the Family Policy Alliance
Foundation team, as we hosted our third annual Social Conservative Policy
Conference — and I want to share a little about it with you.
Known as “SoConCon,” the event has quickly become a can’t-miss
national gathering for social conservative leaders. The week also marked the ninth
class of FPAF’s Statesmen Academy for state legislators, as well as the annual
conference for our state allies, the Family Policy Councils. It was an
incredibly impactful week that you made possible through your prayers and
support of this ministry. [Tony Perkins and Craig DeRoche lead as SoConCon <[link removed]>] Family Research Council President Tony Perkins and FPAF President Craig DeRoche open SoConCon with “The State of Our Movement." SoConCon 2025 brought together nearly 400 leaders from 150
organizations , including state and national policy groups, lawmakers,
academics, and advocates. Together, they addressed some of the most pressing
cultural and policy challenges facing families and communities. Key topics included protecting unborn life through
legislation and at the ballot box, preserving parental rights, advancing
educational freedom, and confronting transgender ideology and online threats to
children. Leaders shared strategies for advancing these priorities at the state
and federal levels, as well as within the culture and the church. [Attendees Listen to Plenary Session <[link removed]>] SoConCon attendees listen to Heritage Foundation's Roger Severino in a plenary session. Alongside SoConCon, FPAF welcomed 45 elected officials
from 25 states to participate in the [Statesmen Academy <[link removed]>] .
The Academy now boasts 285 alumni , most of whom currently serve in state
legislatures across 42 states . More than a dozen alumni participated in SoConCon and spoke to the Statesmen Academy. At the Academy, participants received training in biblical
worldview, statesmanship, and efficacious public service. They were equipped with
model policies, legislative strategies, and communications tools to help them
govern with integrity and conviction. Media training and mentorship from
experienced Christian legislators rounded out their weeklong program. [Statesmen Academy in Session <[link removed]>] Statesmen Academy legislators attend an equipping session. Finally, our state [Family Policy Council allies <[link removed]>] gathered for fellowship, training, mentoring and strategizing for the work
ahead – whether in red, blue or purple states. The men and women who serve in
these organizations are on the frontlines engaging the culture in their states,
and it’s our honor to partner with them. I know they appreciate your prayers as
well. [Prayer by FPC Leaders <[link removed]>] FPC leaders join in prayer over New York Families President, Jason McGuire FPAF believes that lasting policy change begins with strong,
principled leadership. Events like SoConCon, the Statesmen Academy and the FPC
Conference create vital space for that leadership to grow. This three-in-one
event was only possible through the faithful support of [partners
and sponsors <[link removed]>] , as well as friends like you. As I reflect on this year’s SoConCon, the most memorable
parts for me are the celebration of recent so-con victories, the call to
stand for our values and faith despite the waves of culture and
politics, and the power of prayer. The FPAF team left Indianapolis grateful for the energy and collaboration
in our movement which was so clearly on display last week. Whether through your prayers or support, thank you for
