Friends,

Trump’s cruel ICE raids have gone too far.

A father of three U.S. Marines beaten and detained. U.S. citizens being profiled. A farmworker falling to his death. Hard working immigrants sent to detention camps. This is unacceptable. There’s a better path forward.

Last week, I introduced an update to the Immigration and Nationality Act that would keep families together and create a pathway to legalization.

I believe — as do most Americans — that if you’ve built a life here, contributed and made our communities stronger, you should have a shot at the American Dream.

My legislation says that if you have lived here for 7 years, have no criminal record, and are working and contributing to America you will qualify to be a legal permanent resident - an important step toward citizenship.

But Trump doesn’t care about whether or not someone has spent years here, working hard, paying taxes, building a life and being a valued member of the community.

Trump wants mass raids, fear, and chaos while denying longtime residents the chance to stay in the country they call home.

My bill does the opposite.

Let’s choose dignity, not deportation.
