We couldn’t start this without saying a massive congratulations to the Lionesses for securing the Euro 2025 title! What a rollercoaster of a campaign, the Lionesses did us proud! Nerve-shredding moments, but they showed why they are European Champions. An incredible achievement and a true inspiration – showing the power of teamwork, resilience, and pride.
Now, with the summer holidays in full swing, there’s plenty happening across Nottingham to keep everyone entertained. From paddling pools and beaches to reading challenges and free events, take a look below and start planning your summer fun!

 Summer fun for families - including free meals!
The summer holidays are here – and there’s loads happening across Nottingham to help keep kids active, entertained, and well-fed.
🏖️ Soak up the sunshine at the Nottingham Beach in Old Market Square 📚 Take part in the Summer Reading Challenge and explore free events at your local library 🏰 Visit Nottingham Castle – remember, pay once and visit all year! 💦 Cool off at the Victoria Embankment Paddling Pool, open daily

A joint operation between Nottingham City Council’s Trading Standards team and Nottinghamshire Police has resulted in the closure of a shop on Mansfield Road, Nottingham, following the discovery of illegal goods being sold from the premises.
Victoria Mix has been issued with a Closure Order under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, meaning the premises will be closed for a period of three months and must cease all trading during this time.
 Nottingham Carnival Returns
Sunday 17 August 2025 | 1pm-8pm Victoria Embankment
Mark your calendars, grab your whistle, and bring your energy to Nottingham’s biggest Caribbean cultural event.
Nottingham Carnival will be headlined by international stars Etana, Stylo G, and Seani B!
Within the Carnival Village, you’ll find live performances and DJ sets to dance to all day, mouthwatering Caribbean food, a licensed bar, fairground rides and undisputed good vibes! Nottingham Carnival will feature an incredible seven hours of entertainment for every generation and background.
General release advance tickets are on sale now for entry to the Carnival Village!
The colourful Carnival Parade starts at 2pm and is free to watch, where you can enjoy over 400 spectacular costumes and choreography from more than 16 troupes taking part.

The Leader of Nottingham City Council has reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to public safety, following a spate of serious incidents near Nottingham’s canal paths.
Councillor Neghat Khan, Leader of Nottingham City Council, said: “We take the safety of our city extremely seriously. Everyone has the right to feel safe where they live, work, or visit – and that includes canal towpaths and public open spaces. Safety is our top priority, and we will not tolerate violence or anti-social behaviour in our city."

Fitness reimagined: coming to Ken Martin Leisure Centre Autumn 2025
After months of planning and preparation, Active Nottingham is excited to announce a full-scale refurbishment of the gym at Ken Martin Leisure Centre.
The leisure centre will also join an exclusive group of UK gyms to feature Symbio™ Cardio. Which features, the perfect blend of technology and fitness, users will experience engaging interactive environments, and advanced exercise metrics that enhance your workout.
The gym area will be closed from late August whilst renovation take place which include a full gym makeover, including premium fitness equipment from Life Fitness, flooring, and facility refresh. The new gym will reopen on Saturday 13 September 2025 for a VIP open day for Fitness+ members.
These renovations are part of a £1.5 million investment into six Active Nottingham leisure centre (with Clifton, Djanogly, Southglade and Victoria Leisure Centre, and Harvey Hadden Sports Village having already had their gyms updated), in line with their commitment to providing a facility that prioritises your health and wellbeing, and provides an inclusive, motivating, and inspiring place to work out in.

Extension of Dog Public Spaces Protection Orders to keep Nottingham’s public spaces clean, safe and welcoming
Last week at Executive Board, we approved the extension of Nottingham’s dog-related Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs) until 2028.
This means we’ll continue tackling dog fouling, promoting responsible dog ownership, and keeping our parks and public spaces clean, safe and welcoming for everyone. Read more here.
