City Ground
Possible disruption as two events coincide

Early warning for anyone planning to attend either the Nottingham Carnival or Forest's opening match of the 2025/26 season - roads are expected to be busy.

Both events fall on Sunday 17 August with the carnival based on Victoria Embankment, just along the river from the City Ground. Kick-off for the Reds' clash with Brentford is at 2pm - the same time that the carnival parade starts.

Local roads are likely to be busy as a result and so visitors and supporters are encouraged to consider using public transport where possible. A list of available park-and-ride sites operated by Nottingham City Council can be found here [ [link removed] ], while the carnival website is here [ [link removed] ].

MMW
Maid Marian Way overnight resurfacing works continue

Our Maid Marian Way highways improvements are almost complete, with the final phase of resurfacing the junction and surrounding approaches now under way.

Works resumed on Monday (28 July) overnight from 10pm - 6am only on Monday to Thursday nights (not on Friday, Saturday or Sunday nights).

Due to the ongoing road closure on Upper Parliament Street (see above), we've needed to re-jig our plan of what areas will get surfaced when, so please check on our website before you travel if you are in the area overnight.

See more info about the Maid Marian Way project here. [ [link removed] ]

Lady Bay Bridge
Overnight bridge closures for painting project

Lady Bay Bridge remains closed to traffic overnight to allow for it to be painted.

The Nottinghamshire County Council project, which has been jointly funded with Nottingham City Council, is due to finish in October.

To ensure that work can be carried out safely, the bridge will be closed for a short period on the below dates and times:

* Footway closed daytime 8.30am – 5.30pm (weekdays only): *Until 20 August*
* Road closed night-time 8pm – 6am (weekdays only): *Until 17 August*

You can read more about the project here [ [link removed] ], including details on the diversion route [ [link removed] ].

Priory
A52 now closed outbound until the autumn

A reminder that the westbound (outbound) stretch of the A52 between Priory Island and QMC Island (see above) is closed for the next three months.

National Highways, which is responsible for the A52, is upgrading the road surface because it is coming to the end of its serviceable life. The works will also improve drainage and see new lighting introduced.

A combined cycleway and footway on the eastbound side of the A52 will be added as part of the project.

This stretch is now only open eastbound (inbound to the city) - travel westbound (outbound from the city) is not possible.
