We have one today (Friday 8 August) at Berries Field (OL9 6SW), another on Thursday 14 August at Uppermill Park (OL3 6BA) and one on Wednesday 20 August at Royton Park (OL2 6RL).

Animal Magic with our free HAF programme
Â
More than 90 children from Greenhill Sports and Recreation Centre with Football Fun Factory enjoyed meeting animals and reptiles as part of Oldham Council’s free Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme.
They also got creative with a scarecrow-making workshop at Cockfields Farm Park.
The children were joined on the visit by Cllr Shaid Mushtaq, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People.
The HAF programme provides free activities and meals for children in receipt of benefit-related free school meals during the holidays — reflecting our commitment to giving every child the best start in life.
Cllr Shaid Mushtaq said: “It was fantastic to see so many children having fun while learning. Programmes like HAF not only support families during the holidays, but also give our young people memorable, enriching experiences like this.”Â

Celebrating World Breastfeeding Week with Oldham’s Baby Bistros
Â
This week is World Breastfeeding Week — and Infant Feeding Peer Supporter Fordia Begum has told how our free Baby Bistros are helping parents on their journeys.
Not only do they get infant feeding support, mums and babies also form lifelong friendships.
Â
"They build confidence, self esteem and peer support as the mums share stories and experiences," said Forida, who runs the Baby Bistro at Stanley Road Family Hub in Chadderton.
"Babies form bonds and develop social and motor skills and they help mums to manage stress and feelings of being isolated, offering emotional support and empathy. The group welcomes parents, gives them reassurance and they feel safe and heard.
Â
"They can also hire out breast pumps. We show how to use them and they can take them home."
Â
There's no need to book, you can just drop in.Â

[A dropped kerb with the message 'don't block the drop']
Think before you park - dropped kerbs aren't parking spaces đźš«
Â
Dropped kerbs are designed to provide safe and accessible crossing points for people using wheelchairs or mobility aids, visually impaired pedestrians, parents with prams and pushchairs and residents accessing driveways.
Â
Parking across dropped kerbs blocks access and puts others at risk, so let’s keep our community safe and accessible for everyone.
Be considerate – park responsibly.

New bins will include QR codes to make recycling easier
Â
Coming later this year as part of our new bin rollout, every new household bin will come with a QR code on the front, making it quicker and easier to:
Â
âś… Report a missed collection
âś… Check what goes in each bin
âś… Find your collection day
âś… Request an assisted collection
Â
The QR code will link directly to the Council’s rubbish and recycling web page.
Â
Cllr Elaine Taylor, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods said: “It’s a small but practical change that will make a real difference. It’s all about making things simpler and more convenient for our residents.”

[Forever Amnesty bin with the words 'save a life']
Help keep Oldham safe – use the knife amnesty bin today
Â
The Forever Amnesty offers members of the public chance to dispose of knives safely with no questions asked – and there’s an amnesty bin located inside Oldham Police Station's waiting area.
Â
Those surrendering knives are not required to give personal details, and they will not be prosecuted for carrying them.
Â
Since the initiative began, thousands of knives have been taken off the streets across Greater Manchester.
Â
Each knife surrendered is one less that could be used in a crime, making our community safer for everyone – so let’s work together to protect Oldham.Â
