John, since millions took to the streets for the Women’s March on January 21, 2017, we knew the next four years would be an uphill battle.
We expected 2020 would be a defining year for our country, but there’s more on the line than we could have imagined.
The crises of COVID-19, mass unemployment, and police brutality threaten the future of our country and the safety of our families. Donald Trump has made it clear he has neither a plan or the willingness to step up to the job.
It’s more important than ever that women raise their voices this election to demand change. We need to come together as a movement to protect the women who are disproportionately affected by the crises our country currently faces and make sure our fight for equality doesn’t slip backwards.
In the past, we’ve done surveys asking our supporters to help us plan for the 2020 election. But with so many new challenges and urgent matters on our plate, it’s important we reassess our strategy going forward.

We promised ourselves to make 2020 the year we fight with every ounce of energy we have to defeat Trump once and for all. But what we didn’t expect was that 2020 would also become a literal fight for our lives.
COVID-19 so far has taken the lives of over 120,000 Americans. Mass unemployment has left millions of families wondering how they’re going to be able to put dinner on the table. Systemic racism is taking away the lives of our Black brothers and sisters.
Women – and disproportionately women of color – are bearing the lion’s share of these challenges. Women are taking on a majority of the work at home and hold a majority of essential jobs on the frontlines of this pandemic. To make matters worse, gender economic inequality is widening and Republicans are taking advantage of the pandemic to attack abortion rights.
We need to build a women-led, grassroots movement on a scale we’ve never seen before to make sure we elect leaders who can meet the historic moment we’re in. It will take the united power of every woman – Black, white, Latino, Asian, Arab, Native and newcomer – to ensure our country emerges from this crisis a more just, fair, and equitable society for everyone.
Women’s March is proud to be leading this fight. But before we determine our strategy for the months ahead, we need to know what our supporters are willing to do to help.
Will you take our 2020 Strategy survey to help us understand what actions our supporters are willing to take leading up to the election?
Together,
Women’s March
