Can I tell you what it’s like to work with Wes Moore? Every single day, he shows up with purpose and leads with compassion.
That kind of leadership has an impact — and I know it personally.
I spent much of my life trying to fit into spaces that didn’t have me in mind. I was an immigrant growing up in a new country, a female engineer in a male-dominated field, and an Indian-American legislator in a legislature that didn’t look like me.
Over the years, I had to learn to have the courage to be my authentic self in every space. That’s happened to too many of our communities throughout our history.
Too many people have been left behind — from Black and brown communities seeking their rights, to women seeking bodily autonomy, to people wanting to love who they love and be who they are, to families struggling to get benefits and get by in difficult economic circumstances.
Governor Moore and I see you. That’s why every day, we fight to address the inequities of the past and build a Maryland where we Leave No One Behind.
Our fortunes are tied together. We can’t do this alone. Achieving this vision will take the strength of the movement that has been on our side since day one. It will take serious effort to organize, mobilize, and scale our movement, but it’s possible together.
