Hey there --

While Donald Trump admits he asked his administration to slow down testing, the country is attempting to re-open, even amidst rising numbers of coronavirus cases in many states.

It's individuals on the frontlines of the pandemic who are most at risk. Essential workers still face a shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) or are forced to provide their own. Nurses and doctors tasked with combating the spread of the virus lack the necessary resources to do their jobs safely. And all the while the Trump administration and their allies in Congress continue to prioritize pumping money to corporations and the wealthy over the lives and livelihoods of millions.

Here are five stories that showcase the harm caused by the lack of leadership around this pandemic. Share one that resonates with you:

→ "I sacrificed everything and I spent my whole life helping my son who needs my support. Signing this Emergency Fund Bill will help me get my son a special diet," says Nazra Ahmed, who works as a personal care assistant for her son and can't afford the diet he needs to survive without support, which Congress could provide:

→ "I burn with anger--anger at the system that prioritizes profits over health," reads Bonnie Castillo as she shares the words of resident nurse Emily Pierskalla, who fears for her and her coworkers' lives as they work with coronavirus patients every day:

→ "Now that we're going back to work, we need changes at the salons," says nail technician María Hernández, who notes that nail salons were already lacking in PPE prior to the outbreak. "We need to have the appropriate materials provided to us, for our protection...like nitrile rubber gloves, N-95 respirator masks, and also a course or training on health and safety for us.":

→ "I'm going back to work and I can promise you that I'm going to lose clients if I tell them that they have to keep their masks on at all times. And I don't really see how I'm going to be able to rebuild my career at this point to where it was before the pandemic," says small-business owner, Rebecca, who described 2019 as the "best year" for her business and is now struggling to rebuild it in the wake of the outbreak of coronavirus:

→ "I would say fear is just kind of around everywhere. And a lot of just not knowing, you know, what this disease process is, what it's actually doing, how it's killing people, how fast it's killing people," explains Jeff, a doctor, of the feelings of anxiety he and other medical professionals have while they treat patients with coronavirus:
