Dear John,
While others pause for summer—taking time off, unplugging, or simply turning their attention elsewhere—the fight for trans rights continues. Attacks on our communities haven’t stopped. Anti-trans bills are still moving in Congress, and the federal government’s administrative attacks against the trans community are unrelenting. And Advocates for Trans Equality is still here—organizing, litigating, building power, and protecting trans lives. |

The fight for trans equality doesn’t pause for summer and neither do we. Here’s how we’ve been showing up for our communities: | -
Led the opposition to an extreme anti-trans bill. Last month, the House Judiciary Committee advanced a bill seeking to criminalize gender-affirming care for trans adolescents while at the same time explicitly endorsing medically unnecessary surgeries on intersex children. In response, A4TE mobilized a powerful, cross-movement coalition to speak out in unified opposition. Our leadership shaped the national conversation and proved that our movement is strongest when we are bold, principled, and unafraid to lead. Support our work >>
-
Advanced legal protections for trans people through the courts. We filed an amicus brief in Vitsaxaki v. Skaneateles Central School District before the Second Circuit, supporting a school district’s affirming policy that respects students' pronouns and centers their agency in decisions about when and how to involve parents. -
Launched Democracy Days 2025 to bring trans voices directly to the halls of Congress. Our democracy doesn’t work unless it includes us. That’s why we’re building toward Democracy Days, an ambitious initiative to train, support, and send trans leaders and advocates to Washington, D.C. later this year to speak directly with lawmakers. Because face-to-face advocacy is not just symbolic—it’s strategic. And we’re committed to showing up with power and purpose in 2025. Support our work >>

This is what relentless advocacy looks like. And right now, your gift can go twice as far. Thanks to a generous donor, all donations will be matched from first-time supporters like you, dollar-for-dollar, up to $50,000. That means every dollar you give this summer helps power twice the legal, policy, and organizing work we need to win. |
While others pause, we press forward. Thank you for being part of this movement. Sincerely, Olivia Hunt (she/her) Director of Federal Policy Advocates for Trans Equality
