Dear Friend,
Yesterday, Rolling Stone published a powerful article by Earthjustice President Abigail Dillen about the Trump administration’s latest assault on our climate. They’re proposing to gut the EPA’s endangerment finding — the legal foundation for regulating greenhouse gas pollution.
In the article, she lays out in clear terms just what this means:
“President Donald Trump’s administration has officially put Americans on notice that it will be doing nothing to address climate change. Actually, worse than nothing, the Environmental Protection Agency also announced that it will soon be taking back everything it had done to date to address the biggest source of climate pollution in the country.”
But on our side there's legal precedent — and, thanks to supporters like you, a track record of prevailing at the highest court in the land:
“It is a point of pride at Earthjustice, where I am privileged to work, that we were part of the legal team that litigated Mass v. EPA, along with several subsequent cases concerning the EPA’s authority to regulate climate pollution under the Clean Air Act. Over time, the Supreme Court had several opportunities to backtrack, but it never did.
Instead, the court repeatedly affirmed the decision that our national clean air statute is capacious enough to address the biggest pollution threat ever.”
The fight ahead won’t be easy, but we’ve faced these battles before, and we’ve won. And with your support — we can win again.
