Justice Democrats

John,

Last night, a new record high of 27 Democratic Senators voted in support of Sen. Bernie Sanders’ bill to block more U.S. weapons sales to Israel.

For the first time, a majority of the Democratic caucus listened to the American people and voted to stop using our tax dollars to sell more arms to a country carrying out a horrific genocide. As Bernie said, the tide is turning.

Tweet by Prem Thakker: Votes are not done, and more than half the Senate Democratic caucus has voted to block weapons sales to Israel. Such an idea was nearly unimaginable before. The politics of Israel-Palestine are changing in the US.

This vote comes after a new Gallup poll was just released, revealing that a majority of voters — including 83 percent of Democrats — oppose Israel’s military action in Gaza. U.S. public opposition to this genocide is at an all-time high.

Gallup chart: Americans’ Overall View of Israel’s Military Action in Gaza. 60% disapprove, 32% approve.

Still, multiple AIPAC-backed Democratic Senators were holdouts, even after making public statements finally acknowledging Israel’s starvation of the Palestinian population.

If Democrats in Congress say they condemn these crimes against humanity, but then vote against legislation to hold Israel accountable and stop enabling genocide, they need to be challenged at the ballot box in 2026.

Here at Justice Democrats, we’re actively pushing the Democratic Party to actually be a reflection of its voters’ interests and values and reject AIPAC by:
