Dear Community,
🚨 FLASH FLOOD ALERT: NYC URGES PRECAUTIONS 🚨
New York City is expecting heavy rain and strong thunderstorms starting 2 PM Thursday, July 31 through Friday, August 1. Up to 5 inches of rain may fall in some areas, causing dangerous flash flooding, especially in low-lying or poor-drainage zones.
Here’s what you can do to stay safe:
✅ Avoid travel if possible – especially Thursday night.
✅ Sign up for Notify NYC alerts: nyc.gov/notifynyc
✅ If you live in a basement apartment, relocate to higher ground before water rises.
✅ Pack a Go Bag with essentials (ID, meds, chargers).
✅ Stay indoors during the storm.
✅ Never walk or drive through floodwaters.
Flash floods can become deadly in minutes. Be proactive and check on loved ones, especially seniors and those with limited mobility.
MCN is here to support our community. Please help spread the word.
Stay safe,
