Anima – My father’s dresses

As her father lay dying, director Uli Decker was presented with surprising information about him: Though a devout Catholic and seemingly typical Bavarian man, he cultivated a habit of wearing women’s clothing throughout his life. With her own biography marked by the rejection of the heteronormative order she set out to discover her father’s hidden story and to explore how it related to her own experience. Streams for free in August as part of Lots of Love, a yearlong Goethe on Demand series.

In this preparatory workshop for our essay contest, students have the chance to share their own perspectives, reflect on examples from history and current events, and begin brainstorming ideas for their essay. The workshop will give students practical tools to develop a powerful and personal essay.
