Dear John, During this pandemic, Oregonians with special needs are in danger. There have been cases in Oregon where hospitals have refused access to their advocates. Their care was compromised. Some, in other states, have even died. The Oregon Legislature needs to protect their rights when being treated in their local hospitals. This includes Oregonians who live with hearing impairments, dementia, or Alzheimer's. SB 1606 ensures that when Oregonians with disabilities are admitted to a hospital, they can bring a patient-designated advocate with them. This will allow patients, advocates, and doctors to work together to ensure the health of the patient. Please click the button to send a message to your state senator and representative.
