We Want Your Input: Help Shape the

Rural Community-Based Care (CBC) Model



The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) is *seeking input from community stakeholders in regions 9 and 10 *to help guide the development of a rural Community-Based Care (CBC) model.

DFPS has been charged by the 89th Legislature to work with a lead entity to create a rural pilot of the CBC model for child welfare services in an eligible region where efforts to launch CBC have been unsuccessful. *Senate Bill 513 gives local organizations and community members who serve children and families a chance to provide information about the community *that will assist in the preparation of the Request for Application (RFA) for the lead entity. 

The lead entity under Senate Bill 513 is a nonprofit board-led by local residents or a local governmental body selected by DFPS to lead planning and implementation of the rural CBC pilot. Unlike a Single Source Continuum Contractor (SSCC), the lead entity will have greater flexibility to design the program model and to lead the incorporation of local stakeholder feedback. As we are preparing to select a lead entity to develop the rural CBC model, we need your voice to help guide the process.
