Dear FAMMily, We’re at crisis level with lockdowns in facilities across the country, and the impact on incarcerated people and their families is severe and heartbreaking.
“There are only a few privileges that you look forward to, like you look forward to being able to talk to your child and help them with their homework. You may be looking forward to calling your mom and seeing what she’s cooking for Sunday dinner so that you can have those 15 minutes of mental escape. Then lockdown takes that from you. It definitely sucks the life out of pretty much everybody.” – Dwayne White
We’ve heard from so many FAMM members about how persistent and prolonged lockdowns are hitting them hard. Lockdowns take away access to healthcare, education, vocational training, hygiene, nutrition, communications with loved ones, and so much more.
It’s clear that we must take action; lockdowns continue to increase across the country and incarcerated people and their families suffer. Read our recent blog post here, and don’t forget to join our Life on Lockdown campaign and help us stem the rising tide of lockdowns!
Sincerely, |
