Dear Members and Supporters,

Hundreds joined our local groups organising meeting last night.

The message from every speaker was clear: now is the time to get organised and fight back.

From the grassroots to Parliament, there’s a growing hunger for real political change. And the People’s Assembly, with over a decade on the front line, is ready to lead the charge.

“We’re going to focus on how we build in our communities.”

People’s Assembly Acting National Secretary Ramona McCartney opened the meeting by recognising the huge role local groups have played over the past 12 years, from anti-cuts campaigns to national protests:

“At the height of the People’s Assembly, we had 125 local groups working in their communities, doing so much good, and pulling together when we needed to rally for national and regional demos.”

She laid out a bold vision for the future: a renewed focus on grassroots organising, led by communities, supported by the People’s Assembly’s infrastructure, and united under an anti-austerity, anti-war, anti-racist banner.

Zarah Sultana: “It’s socialism or barbarism in 2029.”

Zarah Sultana MP praised the People’s Assembly for standing firm where others retreated. She spoke passionately about the crisis we face, and the alternative we must build together.

“I want to congratulate the People’s Assembly on a decade on the front line in the fight against austerity.”

Zarah talked about the growing new movement, including the launch of Your Party, and emphasised the central role the People’s Assembly’s network will play in helping turn outrage into organisation.

“We’re very excited about what we’re building… I’m honoured to be part of this with all of you. We’ve got a lot of work to do together.”

Jeremy Corbyn: “We’re the alternative to Reform, and we’re bigger and better.”

Jeremy Corbyn reflected powerfully on the journey we’ve all taken, and gave a rallying call for what comes next.

He recalled the People’s Assembly’s 2015 rally in London, where over 250,000 people gathered, a moment he credits as central to his successful Labour leadership bid:

“That huge rally, organised by the People’s Assembly, changed everything. It showed the strength of anti-austerity politics when we organise.”

Jeremy didn’t hold back on the current state of politics, from the assault on disabled people and the two-child benefit cap, to the deepening housing crisis and ongoing privatisation of the NHS and water services:

“They’re pretending there are no cuts. But ask any hospital, care home or school - they’ve all been told to make ‘efficiency savings’. That’s cuts by another name.”

“They’re trying to take £5bn out of disability support while spending £13bn more on weapons. The campaign against this must intensify.”

He also addressed the rise of Your Party, confirming that over 600,000 people have signed up in less than a week, and made a passionate case for combining electoral ambition with street-level organising:

“This isn’t just about elections. Real political power comes from what people do in their communities and in their workplaces.”

“I want to work with all of you in the People’s Assembly. Thank you for all that you do, to fight against the idea that there is no alternative. Because yes, there is!”

“We know we need to throw everything at this now.”

Closing the meeting, Ramona issued a challenge to everyone listening:

“If you're not yet part of a local group, now is the time. If there’s no group near you, we’ll help you set one up. If your group has gone quiet, let’s bring it back to life.”

The People's Assembly remains an independent, grassroots organisation, rooted in the fight against austerity, war, racism and inequality. With the collapse of support for the establishment parties, we have an opportunity, and a responsibility, to organise.

“We have the best organisers in the country, with incredible networks. If you want to get active, we’ll support you.”
