__________
THE URGENCY OF NOW
[[link removed]]
_Ismaeel Elkhateeb_ / Middle East Eye (London)
Palestinians face an unprecedented existential crisis. Radical action
is necessary to end it. Our actions - whether by boycotting,
protesting, lobbying or other tactics - must push our governments to
enact sanctions, embargoes and diplomatic isolation. The fear barrier
between the world and Zionism has been broken, and we must begin to
think beyond ourselves.
__________
CALL FOR AN INTERNATIONAL ANTIFASCIST CONFERENCE
[[link removed]]
_I Conferência Internacional Antifascisto_ (Porto Alegre)
Led by the Socialism and Liberty Party (PSOL), the Workers’ Party
(PT), and the Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB) in the state of Rio
Grande do Sul, we call on international antifascist forces to open a
dialogue capable of confronting the destruction being carried out by
neoliberal conservatism – placing unity in the streets against the
far right as our top priority.
__________
GEN Z IN KENYA
[[link removed]]
_Johnmark Odoyo_ / Global Voices (The Hague)
July 7 was the most violent day of protest since unrest first erupted
in the country with the introduction of a controversial finance
bill in June 2024. With every new death added to the toll, the anger
that first pushed Kenya’s young people onto the streets is
deepening.
__________
REPRESSION OF ACTIVISTS ACROSS ASIA
[[link removed]]
_Josef Benedict and Rajavelu Karunanithi_ / The Diplomat (Arlington
VA)
Across Asia, authoritarian and democratic governments alike are
passing and weaponizing new laws – in clear violation of
international law and standards – to pursue and jail whoever speaks
up for human rights.
__________
Parties, Movements, Unions in UK
• AN ALTERNATIVE LEFT PARTY
[[link removed]]
_James Schneider_ / New Left Review (London)
• PEOPLE-POWERED DEMOCRACY

__________
GENDER LIBERATION IN THE GLOBAL SOUTH
[[link removed]]
_Sunil Pant_ / Red Pepper (London)
The language, symbols and identities of Pride are exported globally
– and trapped in limited Western ideals. For true liberation, we
must look to Indigenous and Asian cultures.
__________
NEW LEADERSHIP IN ECUADOR INDIGENOUS MOVEMENT
[[link removed]]
_Pablo Meriguet_ / Peoples Dispatch (New Delhi)
On July 20, 2025, during the eighth congress of the Confederation of
Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (CONAIE), Marlon Richard Vargas
Santi was elected president of Ecuador’s largest social and
Indigenous organization for the 2025-2028 term. CONAIE represents 15
nationalities and 18 Indigenous peoples, and defends collective rights
and community power to govern their territories.
__________
THE RISE AND FALL OF RUSSIA’S DEMOBILIZATION MOVEMENT
[[link removed]]
_Marina-Maya Govzman_ / Meduza (Riga)
A women-led opposition to mobilization for the Ukraine
invasion evolved into a diverse movement, comprising disparate
groups that often found themselves at odds over the war itself.
Pressure from the authorities only amplified these divisions —
so much so that the demobilization activists began to suspect each
other of cooperating with the security services or the anti-Kremlin
opposition.
__________
Left Takes on BRICS
• WHAT IS BRICS AND WHERE IS IT GOING?

_Owen Schalk_ / Canadian Dimension (Winnipeg)
• BRICS AND BANDUNG

__________
FAREWELL TO “KERALA’S CASTRO”
[[link removed]]
_Haritha Sharly Benjamin_ / Onmanorama (Kottayam, Kerala, India)
From the coir mills of Alappuzha to the Chief Minister’s office at
82, V S Achuthanandan’s life was a saga of defiance, discipline,
and relentless public service. Retrace the journey of Kerala’s most
iconic Marxist—his firebrand politics, party feuds, people’s
battles, and personal code that made him a living legend.
