Sixty years ago, Medicare and Medicaid were officially enacted into law.
Today, Medicare and Medicaid cover nearly 1 in 3 Americans, including hundreds of thousands here in California. These critical social safety nets have helped keep countless individuals and their families afloat for generations, including millions of seniors, pregnant women, and people with disabilities – and they are important resources we can’t afford to lose.
I’ve always stood against Republicans’ attempts to slash funding for these programs, but
the latest Medicaid cuts from Trump and the GOP majorities in Congress are set to leave millions of Americans without health care coverage.
I’m doing everything in my power in Congress to fight back, but we also need to show the GOP that their cruelty and recklessness have consequences – that means taking back the House majority next year. Will you pitch in before midnight tomorrow to help our team gear up for the work ahead to elect more Democrats?

The landscape of American health care changed forever when President Johnson signed into law the Social Security Act amendment, which created Medicare and Medicaid. It’s hard to name another government program that has transformed more lives.
No one should have to choose between staying out of poverty and seeking the health care they need. Simply put: Medicare and Medicaid save lives and provide an invaluable peace of mind for so many.
We must defend these lifeline programs and keep working to expand access to quality, affordable health care for Americans everywhere. It’s clear we can’t rely on Congressional Republicans to do that, so let’s kick them out of the majority. Rush in $10 right away:
Thanks for always standing with me.
