John,
On the very same day Trump rolled back federal protections on emergency care, Connecticut Democrats passed and Governor Lamont signed into law one of the strongest EMTALA protection bills in the country.
EMTALA (Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act) is the federal law that requires hospitals to provide emergency care to anyone who needs it, including abortion care when a pregnancy threatens someone’s life or health. Under Trump’s new rule, those protections are being stripped away across the country.
Connecticut is refusing to follow that lead, making it clear that in our state, patients have rights and healthcare workers have the legal protection to do what is right.
That’s the kind of leadership you get when you elect Democrats. And we are only able to pass bold, values-driven laws like this because people like you keep showing up. You are voting, organizing, and investing in the future of our state. |
