Message from Congressman Scott Fitzgerald
Good afternoon, everyone, and happy Wednesday!
I’d like to kick off this week’s eNewsletter by highlighting a bill I recently introduced with Senator Lummis—H.R. 4658, the Stopping Teachers Unions from Damaging Education Needs Today (STUDENT) Act.
The National Education Association (NEA) long ago transformed from an educational association into a political machine, pushing a progressive agenda that puts activists ahead of students. The STUDENT Act reins in NEA’s federal charter, restores accountability, and demands a return to its original purpose: educating, not indoctrinating, American children.

HALT Fentanyl Act Signing Ceremony
It was an honor to attend the White House bill signing ceremony for the HALT Fentanyl Act. Thank you, President Trump, for signing this critical legislation into law.
Stopping the flow of deadly fentanyl that’s devastated families in Wisconsin and across the country has remained a top priority of mine during my time in Washington.
Special thanks to Lauri Badura of Oconomowoc and Dr. Timothy Westlake of Waukesha—their tireless advocacy helped make this moment possible.
Rep. Fitzgerald Discusses the Foreign Abuse of U.S. Courts Particularly by the CCP
Last week, the House Judiciary Committee held a hearing titled, “Foreign Abuse of U.S. Courts.” The hearing examined how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) currently utilizes U.S. courts to silence critics, delay and overturn national security directives of the legislative and executive branches, harass competitors of Chinese companies, access strategic emerging technologies, and evade sanctions.
Additionally, the hearing investigated the CCP's exploitation of gaps in domestic enforcement regimes and jurisdiction of the courts to bypass tariffs, duties, and other trade restrictions. The hearing also explored targeted actions that can be taken to contest the CCP's ability to use the U.S. court system as a battlefront in its competition with the United States.
President Donald Trump Signs Executive Order to Save College Sports
The EO signed by President Trump is a major milestone. It upholds the same principles behind the SCORE Act I introduced with my colleagues: putting clear guardrails on NIL payments while ensuring athletes are fairly compensated. A national standard is long overdue. I thank President Trump for his leadership in advancing this important step for college athletics.
Chairman Fitzgerald Discusses Potential Legislative Reforms to Bankruptcy Law
As Chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Administrative State, Regulatory Reform, and Antitrust, I recently held a hearing that examined whether bankruptcy law is continuing to strike the correct balance between the rights of creditors and debtors or whether narrowly tailored updates are necessary to maintain the viability of the bankruptcy system for small businesses, consumers, and creditors.
Rep. Fitzgerald Discusses China's Abuse of U.S. Courts
In case you missed it, last week I joined NTD News Capitol Report to discuss a recent hearing in the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, Artificial Intelligence, and the Internet on the foreign abuse of U.S. courts.
Statement on the Passage of Bills during Crypto Week
Recently, the House of Representatives passed three digital asset-related pieces of legislation: the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act of 2025 (CLARITY), Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins Act (GENIUS), and Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act. I was proud to vote YES on all three bills and fully support President Trump’s mission to make the United States the crypto capital of the world.

Rep. Fitzgerald Talks Crypto Week on OAN’s Fine Point with Chanel Rion
I recently joined OAN's Fine Point with Chanel Rion to discuss the various bills the House of Representatives debated and ultimately passed during Crypto Week.
Rep. Fitzgerald Speaks in Support of a Federal Digital Asset Framework Through the CLARITY Act
As a member of the House Financial Services Committee, I recently spoke on the House Floor in support of H.R. 3633. For too long, our entrepreneurs and investors have faced uncertainty from federal regulators involving digital assets. The CLARITY Act finally sets the ground rules, reins in regulatory overreach, and empowers the next generation of digital market builders to thrive here in the United States, not overseas.
Joined the Vicki McKenna Show
Recently, I joined the Vicki McKenna Show to discuss DNI Gabbard's declassified report on the Obama Administration's Russia hoax and the House Judiciary Committee's hearing on the foreign abuse of U.S. courts.

Keeping Violent Offenders Off Our Streets Act
President Trump is right. Cashless bail is fueling crime and putting dangerous offenders back on our streets. Last year, the House passed my bill, the Keeping Violent Offenders Off Our Streets Act, to rein in radical left-wing bail policies and keep our communities safe. We need more policies that stop left-wing prosecutors and judges from releasing dangerous criminals.
Statements on Passage of Defense Spending and Rescission Legislation
The House recently passed the Senate Amendment to H.R. 4, the Rescissions Act of 2025 and H.R. 4016, the Department of Defense Appropriations Act, 2026.
Wisconsin families are sick and tired of seeing their hard-earned tax dollars funneled to politically biased media here at home. With the passage of the Rescissions Act of 2025, we aren’t just cutting spending—we are codifying the Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) findings into law.
The Department of Defense Appropriations Act, 2026 delivers on House Republicans' promise to support our troops and their families, ensures America’s military remains the most lethal fighting force, and ends DEI, Critical Race Theory, and other woke ideologies that plague our military.

Fitzgerald Discusses Issuing Subpoenas to Harvard, Brown, & Penn in Ivy League Antitrust Probe
Recently, I joined Weekly Briefing on OAN to discuss subpoenas Rep. Jim Jordan and I issued to Harvard, Brown, and Penn to obtain documents regarding possible collusion between Ivy League universities to raise tuition prices.
Fox News Op-Ed: We Can’t Abolish America’s Largest Teachers Union. But Congress Can Do Something Else.
America’s largest teachers union is pushing a radical leftist agenda, and Congress must act to hold them accountable and put students first.
