The Environmental Protection Agency—founded to protect the public from environmental harm—is dismantling the backbone of climate progress and public health in our country. 

Team, I can't overstate how much is at stake here. The Endangerment Finding was issued after extensive scientific research proving that climate change endangers public health. This finding gave the E.P.A. the power to regulate toxic pollution from cars, factories, power plants, and more—and without it, we lose vital public health and community protections against dirty power plants, car and truck emissions, and oil and gas leaks. 

If this move is finalized, it'll reverse 50 years of climate progress and block our ability to rein in climate pollution from coal, oil, and gas.

This isn't regulatory reform—it's abandonment. The Endangerment Finding is based on a mountain of scientific evidence and has been upheld multiple times in the courts, including the Supreme Court. As climate-driven natural disasters like wildfire, extreme heat, and hurricanes grow more deadly, E.P.A. Administrator Zeldin is turning his back on the American people.

Stripping the Endangerment Finding will kneecap our ability to protect against climate change impacts, but there's still hope for keeping progress alive in our state. Right now, it's crucial for California leadership to hold the line, meet the moment, and stand up in defense of California's environmental progress.
