Dear Supporter,

Cassandra Parker is a sport shooter and an owner of a small business in Prince George, B.C. She has launched a legal challenge against the Trudeau government’s new gun ban and buyback. And she is going to need all the allies she can get.

The Trudeau government hastily banned 1,500 types of guns on May 1^st. The Liberals also promised to spend $200 million buying back and destroying these guns in their election platform.

This might be a useful exercise if criminals in Canada all lined up to turn in their illegal guns, but that won’t be the case. And if this is a repeat of the gun registry boondoggle, the cost could soar into the billions.

Wasting hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to buy guns from law-abiding Canadian sport-shooters is not a way to reduce crime.

Even worse, our elected members of Parliament never got to debate or vote on this gun ban and buyback. It was simply passed by Trudeau’s cabinet.

That isn’t right. And we don’t think it’s even legal.

That is why the Canadian Taxpayers Federation wants to get into this court battle. We want to hire our own lawyers and apply to intervene in Cassandra’s case. If approved, our lawyers would appear before the judges in Cassandra’s case and make our own arguments as to why Cassandra shouldn’t have her property seized and why Canadian taxpayers shouldn’t have to go deeper into debt to buy back guns from people like her.

We’ve negotiated a good deal from some top lawyers in Ottawa, but we need to raise $21,000 by June 30^th in order to file our court documents before the deadline.
