This really isn’t complicated: Many Kansas Republicans have taken the position that Medicaid is unnecessary. That helping thousands of kids, parents, and seniors across Kansas stay healthy is somehow a waste of money.
But trillion-dollar tax handouts to the richest people on the face of the Earth? To politicians in the extreme wing of the Kansas GOP, that’s not wasteful. They genuinely believe that working-class Kansans should have LESS, all so billionaires can make MORE.
Out-of-touch doesn’t even begin to describe it, FIRSTNAME.
These elected officials have turned their backs on the people they’re supposed to represent — the people they’re supposed to fight for. That’s why I’m reaching out: Will you chip in a grassroots donation to help the Kansas Democratic Party elect real leaders across the state next year?
Sixty years ago today, President Lyndon Johnson signed the Medicare and Medicaid Act into law, allowing families and seniors across the country to access affordable, life-saving care for the first time in their lives. Since then, millions of Kansans have relied on Medicaid to access affordable emergency room visits, dental care, long-term care for loved ones, and so much more.
But now, because every Kansas Republican in Congress was too afraid to stand up to Donald Trump — too afraid to put their constituents before billionaires — that care has never been more threatened.
They knew Trump’s extreme budget bill would throw nearly 100,000 Kansans off their health care, shutter nursing homes, and bankrupt rural hospitals. They knew it would hurt everyone who isn’t already a billionaire. But they voted for it anyway.
Those aren’t the actions of leaders, FIRSTNAME. Those are the actions of politicians who are more concerned about staying in the good graces of Donald Trump than with the needs of their constituents.
That's why the Kansas Democratic Party’s work is so important. They're fighting every day to elect leaders who are in it for us — not Donald Trump, not the ultra-wealthy.
If the stakes of next year’s elections weren’t clear before, they sure are now. So FIRSTNAME, can you rush a donation to the Kansas Democratic Party before tomorrow night’s fundraising deadline to help their team elect Democrats up and down the ballot next year? The future of Kansas is on the line, and we can’t fall short.
