Before I ran for Congress, I remember getting bombarded with non-stop, world-is-ending emails from political campaigns.

To be honest, I often tuned them out. The deadlines seemed arbitrary, and they were full of obnoxious scare tactics. In my view, Democratic donors have plenty of real reasons why they should support our cause. Resorting to exaggerations and desperation is just counterproductive.

That's why my team and I try to do things differently. I know that you understand the stakes are high, and we won't feed any more panic than that. As a lifelong meteorologist, I value facts -- not hype.

So here are the facts, friend: July is a typically-slow fundraising month, but we still have two days left to meet our fundraising goal. We need a strong push starting today to get us over the top.
