“COVID-19 has placed a huge strain on our healthcare system and nowhere has that been more keenly felt than in our isolated Indigenous communities,” said Dave Deines, President of the Paramedic Association of Canada.

People who use drugs on the Sunshine Coast are being urged not to use alone as the region grapples with a spike in overdoses.
While BC Emergency Health Services responses to overdoses in the first five months of 2020 are comparable to the same time period last year, they shot into the double digits in May. BCEHS responded to 10 overdose calls in Sechelt compared to five in May 2019.
