For decades, mass protests have been the engine of social change, including acting on climate — from local marches to global climate strikes. The voices of millions demanding change have forced governments and corporations to take climate seriously.
But today, the right to protest is being attacked worldwide.
In Uganda, 11 climate activists were imprisoned for 85 days just for peacefully delivering a petition opposing the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP).
Here at home and across the world, freedom of expression laws are being removed, protests criminalized, and activists intimidated. We cannot allow these attacks to succeed.
By signing, you’ll join a global movement fighting to protect activists on the frontlines — activists who are risking everything to stop pipelines, coal mines, and other fossil fuel projects.
Because the right to protest is fundamental to climate justice, and we cannot let governments take it away.
With hope and determination,
