BUXTON - The Maine Department of Transportation will be conducting work on Route 22 in Buxton starting on Thursday, July 31 for a large culvert replacement project. The existing culverts under Route 22 are undersized and need replacement. Work is scheduled to be completed by August 25. The project area begins just south of the intersection with Rankin Road. The project area ends a third of a mile north of the intersection with Dunnell Road. From August 4 to August 25, Route 22 traffic will be detoured on Long Plains Road, to Route 112, Narragansett Trail, River Road, and Parker Farm Road. Local traffic to the project area will have access via Dunnell Road. Local businesses on Rankin Road will still have access via Rankin entering from Route 112 (River Road). Local Traffic will have access via Route 22 (Long Plains Road) from the North and the South but will not be able to travel through the project area. The contractor on this project is R.J. Grondin of Gorham, Maine. The contract amount is $616,330.00.
