John,
President Trump is furiously backpedaling. In the immediate wake of the shootings in El Paso and Dayton, he spoke of passing stronger gun laws. Then he started communicating constantly — sometimes a few times a day — with Wayne LaPierre and the NRA.
Now, Trump’s dropped all calls for gun reform. Instead, he’s inaccurately pinpointing mental illness as the problem, even going so far as to call for the U.S. to open more “mental institutions” as the solution to gun violence. According to reports, just yesterday Trump was on the phone with LaPierre, assuring him that he won’t pursue gun reform.
John, Americans deserve better. We need a leader in the White House who isn’t beholden to the gun lobby. We need a leader who brings the right voices to the table, and who doesn’t parrot NRA talking points.
That’s why I’m putting out a personal request to the President: meet with Brady.
The President will not solve our country’s gun violence epidemic if the NRA is the only voice at the table. This isn’t the way.
Our country is hurting. This is the time to take action, not sides. Send a message to President Trump: Meet with Brady!
We’re inviting President Trump to sit down and discuss real, common-sense solutions to gun violence in America. Brady has a legacy of bipartisanship and real accomplishments, and we’re eager to share our comprehensive plan for a brighter future. We know what it takes to win a tough fight on a tough issue.
We can’t stand by while the NRA guides President Trump’s decision making. We stand ready to meet with him and lend him our perspective and guidance. Can you help call on him to do so?
Thank you,
Kris Brown
