Thank You for Supporting Our Mingei Museum Fundraiser!
To all our incredible vendors, volunteers, the Mingei Museum team, and everyone who attended our fundraiser last Monday—thank you from the bottom of our hearts. It was an honor to be surrounded by our beloved community once again. Your presence, generosity, and solidarity made this event truly unforgettable.
As our Interim Executive Director, Dulce Aguirre, reminded us:
“As you leave tonight, I want you to take this message with you: We don’t have to wait for someone else to lead with humanity. We are already doing it, right here, right now. Thank you for standing with us. Thank you for standing with immigrants. And thank you for believing that every person, no matter where they come from, deserves safety, dignity, and respect.”
Together, we are building a community rooted in compassion and action. Your continued support fuels our mission at the border and beyond, and we are deeply grateful to be in this work with you.
Con cariño,
The Border Angels Team
San Diego Pride!
Community Grand Marshalls
We are incredibly honored to have received the Spirit of Stonewall Award and serve as the 2025 Community Grand Marshals for San Diego Pride! 🏳️🌈
Each year, the Spirit of Stonewall Awards recognize individuals and organizations making powerful contributions to the LGBTQIA+ community through leadership, activism, and solidarity. We are proud to be recognized for our continued work at the intersection of immigration justice and queer liberation.
Through our partnerships with shelters like Jardín de las Mariposas, we uplift and support LGBTQIA+ asylum seekers who are fleeing violence and persecution, offering sanctuary, advocacy, and dignity.
Our work is driven by love, and made possible by our community. Whether it’s reuniting families, delivering water in the desert, or defending the rights of LGBTQIA+ migrants, we are committed to turning compassion into action and building a more just, safe, and loving future for all.
Thank you, San Diego Pride, for this beautiful honor, and thank you to our community for continuing to believe in a world without borders and without fear.
Caravan of Love
Visiting Volviendo a la Patria
This month, our Caravan of Love visited Volviendo a La Patria, one of over a dozen migrant shelters we support in Tijuana. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we were able to deliver essential donations like hygiene kits, clothing, and other supplies to individuals who are rebuilding their lives with courage and hope.
We’re so grateful to our dedicated volunteers who made this day possible. Your compassion creates ripples of dignity and solidarity across borders.
If you’d like to help, you can contribute items directly via our wishlist—just head to the link in our bio.
Want to join us next time? We hold these events every month. Stay tuned, sign-ups for our upcoming Caravan of Love will be announced soon!

Water Drop
We reached our Gaiter goal!
This past weekend, 28 volunteers—including 7 first-time participants—joined us on our monthly Water Drop to deliver life-saving aid. Together, we placed over 90 gallons of water, 80 bottles of Gatorade, and 150 cans of food along migration routes.
The area we visited showed a 99.97% consumption rate, underscoring the extreme and ongoing need. The few items that were left behind were the bottles that we sadly found punctured and destroyed.
During the drop, we also encountered another rattlesnake, the second in just a few weeks. As temperatures rise, these encounters become more common. For the safety of our volunteers, we are currently fundraising for snake gaiters, and thanks to you, we have almost doubled our goal!

Familias Reunidas Bond Program
Meet Marcos Andres
Meet our latest Familias Reunidas recipient Marcos Andres, a 28-year-old father of three who was recently released from Adelanto Detention Center after spending a year in ICE custody. Originally brought to Los Angeles from Mexico at just 2 years old, Marcos has spent nearly his entire life in the U.S., building a family, working hard cleaning pools and at a furniture factory, and raising his children, ages 3, 4, and 7.
On July 3rd, 2024, Marcos was detained by ICE outside his home. His absence left his family devastated, especially his young children who missed him every single day. Marcos was given an unreasonably high bond, far beyond what his family could afford.
Thanks to the support of the National Bail Fund Network, Marcos was able to reunite with his loved ones. He is now preparing for the next chapter with the support of Casa Marianella, who will serve as his sponsor during his immigration process.
Though Marcos is home, the trauma of ICE raids continues to linger. These raids harm not just individuals—they devastate entire communities.
We remain committed to reuniting families and challenging the systems that criminalize migration.

A Special Announcement
Our Partnership with NDLON
Border Angels began in 1986, serving the day laborer community in Northern County. Since then, we have expanded to conduct humanitarian work along the San Diego/ Tijuana border. Continuing to serve the immigration community through various outreach programs, like our water drops, Caravan of Love, Familias Reunidas, and our Voliendo a Casa program. As always, following our mission of love through advocacy and education.
Today we come full circle, as Border Angels is proud to announce it is now a member of the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON), a powerful alliance working to advance the rights and dignity of immigrant and low-wage workers across the country. This collaboration strengthens our shared mission to protect migrant rights, promote humane immigration reform, and support grassroots organizing in vulnerable communities.
We have had the opportunity to support NDLON with completing surveys on the laborers' experiences in Northern and Southern CA. Learning quickly that the issues laborers face here in San Diego are found nationwide. Joining this network has come at a time when we most need to rely on community members to continue serving our community.
As always, el pueblo unido jamas sera vencido.

News Spotlight:
San Diego mayor reaffirms police role during federal immigration raids
Mayor Todd Gloria signed an executive order this week clarifying that San Diego police officers are not participating in federal immigration raids, following confusion over a recent operation in Mission Bay.
Gloria said the order is intended to reassure the public that officers are not working with federal agents during Immigration and Customs Enforcement actions. Police will only be present to ensure public safety and protect the rights of people protesting the raids, he said.
“It’s very important to me that San Diegans know that the San Diego Police Department never participates in immigration enforcement raids,” Gloria said at a news conference. “We follow state laws that prohibit any participation in these federal operations.”

More immigration judges are being fired amid Trump's efforts to speed up deportations
Another round of immigration judges began receiving emails on Friday informing them they are being let go, NPR has learned, adding to the growing list of immigration court personnel cut by President Trump amid his efforts to speed up deportations of immigrants without legal status.
Fifteen immigration judges learned Friday that they would be put on leave and that their employment would terminate on July 22, according to two people familiar with the firings and a confirmation from the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE), a union that represents immigration judges. The two people spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals.
