Dear John,
Welcome to the third email in our series - stories straight from our Verified Voting team. We are all working tirelessly to make our elections secure and verifiable, and hope you’ll support us with a gift ([link removed]) as we work towards November's elections. Meet Corrie Emerson, our Communications Officer, whose work lies at the heart of what we do:

When I joined Verified Voting 10 months ago after working at a large county in the Philly ‘burbs (and surviving six elections), I knew my communications role would be critical heading into the 2020 election. How we talk about our work and share our message is a crucial part of advancing Verified Voting’s mission and now is not the time to be silent.
Empowering citizens to register to vote and getting them to commit to voting on election day is important, but if their voting equipment fails or if they lack faith in the integrity of the results, our democracy is compromised. It’s my job to make sure our work reaches everyone - including election officials, voters, academics, the media, and more.
Just like my own life has adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic (tips for keeping an energetic toddler occupied while I’m on a video call are welcome!), our communications strategy is adapting to ensure that our election security recommendations are reaching the right audiences. We’ve:
Empowered voters to play a direct role in election security via our ongoing #checkyourreg campaign
Elevated our message in the Washington Post, NPR, Roll Call, WIRED, Politico, and other national publications
Raised awareness about voter disenfranchisement seen in recent primaries, internet voting vulnerabilities, and the federal funding that election officials desperately need
Circulated our team’s COVID-19 recommendations and accessible vote by mail options to the audiences that need to hear them
Shared the work we’re doing on risk limiting audits out in the field (our audit team is finally able to hit the road again using safety precautions and social distancing)
…. And much more. I can’t wait to share our redesigned website with you soon, which will give you a much easier way to access our in-house publications and data, especially the Verifier!
It’s up to all of us to stay engaged to preserve our democracy and ensure that our voices are heard. Help me spread the word about Verified Voting’s plan to make our elections secure by making a gift and sharing our Validating 2020 video ([link removed]) today.
With thanks,
Corrie
