John --

You may be wondering: Why do presidential candidates suddenly care a lot about Arizona and not at all about Colorado?

Because Arizona is now considered a “swing state” -- one that could either vote for the Republican or Democratic candidate this fall.

That’s not really the case with Colorado anymore. Colorado used to be a swing state -- one that got all the attention from the presidential candidates. They visited. They organized. They spent money on ads. But that doesn’t happen anymore. Presidential candidates are paying a lot less attention to Colorado.

But shouldn’t presidential candidates care about Colorado -- and every other state -- instead of just six or seven swing states?

The truth is, they don’t have to. Under our current system, the candidates only focus on voters from swing states, and ignore the rest of the country. This is pretty much what the map of the United States looks like to presidential candidates:

Colorado is among at least 40 other red and blue, big and small, rural and urban states that are overlooked. It doesn’t have to be this way. The National Popular Vote will make sure every voter in every state is important. Instead of a few swing states, we will have a swing country under a National Popular Vote.

The National Popular Vote makes sure every vote counts no matter where that voter lives. Presidential candidates will have to campaign across the country instead of in just a few states.

Under the National Popular Vote, we can ensure that Colorado voters -- and all voters -- matter in every election. Chip in a few dollars so we can build a winning campaign and make the National Popular Vote a reality:
