Team — this month, here’s how Texas Republicans have been showing up in the media:
- Ken Paxton’s divorce went viral because “biblical grounds” were cited as the reason his spouse filed against him.
- Ted Cruz was off on vacation, yet again, while Texans were undergoing a deadly flooding disaster.
- And Greg Abbott? He’s ignoring the questions from storm survivors and funneling taxpayer dollars into a redistricting power grab to keep Trump in control of Congress.
This is what passes for leadership in Texas right now. Is this really the best Texas has to offer?
Let’s be clear: the answer is hell no, it’s not. We are surrounded by some of the hardest-working, most thoughtful, community-oriented people in the country — this leadership does not represent us.
Agree? Consider chipping in today to help us raise an additional $18,000 before the end of the month so we can continue fighting for better leadership and a Bluer Texas >>
The only thing our legislators should be focusing on in this special session is flood preparedness and protecting Texans.
But they’re not, and we know this because Abbott has the emergency authority to provide flood relief — and he’s had it this whole time. Instead, they’re prioritizing a mid-decade redistricting scheme to tip the balance of the entire U.S. House of Representatives in Donald Trump’s favor, and they’re doing it with our taxpayer dollars.
It’s the same old song and dance every single time…
Disaster strikes

Republicans underfund prevention, send prayers, or disappear from the state

They blame anyone but themselves, even though they’re the only ones in power

Then Republicans use the crisis to consolidate power

It’s cynical. It’s cruel. And it’s exactly why the Texas Democratic Party is organizing now to contact every Democratic voter in the very districts they’re trying to rig.
We need to raise an additional $18,000 before the end of the month to power our voter outreach, educate Texans in these red-lined districts and across the state, and kick off our organizing strategy. Every dollar goes toward ensuring that voters — not extremists — decide who represents Texas.
Chip in now to stop the GOP from redrawing these districts behind closed doors >>
We know that a better Texas is possible — one where natural disasters don’t become political weapons, and where Texans can count on leadership that serves the people, not a failed president who is only out for himself.
But it will take all of us. So I’m asking: will you help us meet this moment?
In solidarity,
Kendall
P.S. They want you distracted. They want you discouraged. But we’re showing up anyway — because we believe in a Texas that takes care of its people. Help us build the organizing power to make that real.
