Hello --

Since day one of this campaign, I haven't taken a penny from the NRA.

Back then, some thought I simply couldn't run and win on gun-safety reform in a district President Trump won by more than 6 points -- but we did.

Now there is a new Fox News poll that proves it was not only the right thing to do, but it's also what everyday Americans demand. According to the poll, 90% support universal background checks, 81% support taking guns from at-risk people, and 67% support a ban on assault weapons.

And at our town halls, folks from all walks of life ask me when our leaders are going to offer more than "thoughts and prayers."

We simply can no longer tolerate extreme special interests obstructing the people's demands.

In the House, I was proud to help pass the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019, but Senator Mitch McConnell refused to allow the Senate to vote on it. Add your name to the petition and demand that the Senate take up anti-gun violence legislation immediately.

Look, this year there have already been 35,000 incidents of gun violence in America -- 261 mass shootings and at least 22 shootings in schools. 9,200 people have already died.

We can't wait until the next election. We have to act now.

Enacting universal background checks would be an important first step, but we must also get the Senate to work on removing guns from people the courts have identified as a danger, banning high-capacity magazines, and outlawing assault weapons.

Add your name to the petition to call on Senator Mitch McConnell and Republicans in the Senate to stop their obstruction and pass the anti-gun violence legislation the American people demand.

Thank you,

-- Antonio Delgado
