John,
As George Floyd laid dying on the sidewalk, he called out for his mama.
Sheree Baldwin-Muhammad said when she heard this she immediately thought of her own five children and four grandchildren. “I couldn’t hear anything but my kids saying ‘mama,’” Sheree said. “And when my kids say ‘mama,’ I come... I get in my car and I come.”
These heartbreaking last words have moved her, thousands of other Black mamas, and folks all across the country to take action and elevate the demand to #DefundthePolice.
It’s critical we continue growing this momentum for change. That’s why we’re inviting you to join the Black Mamas March in DC, hosted by Black Womxn For and Black Mamas March.
Will you join the Black Mamas March on Saturday, June 27, at Navy Memorial Plaza? Please RSVP now to join this historic event.

The Black Mamas March is a space to take action in the name of Black joy, Black love, and in defense of Black lives.
This event will honor all Black children and Black mamas that were forced to mourn too soon and will end with a dance party as part of the protest.
In order to protect all families in attendance, PPE and hand sanitizer will be provided and ground markers will be established to help folks observe social distancing. The Black Mamas March welcomes children of all ages, and strollers, wagons, and baby carriers are strongly encouraged.
The plan is to gather at the Navy Memorial Plaza on Pennsylvania Avenue between 7th and 9th Streets NW for a short program of music, education, and a babies’ march. Then folks will march on to the area at 14th and Madison Drive near the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
Please RSVP for this powerful gathering if you plan on joining.
In solidarity,
Women’s March
