Today we announce the release of our report chronicling family separation under the Trump administration: Family Separation Is Not Over: How the Trump Administration Continues to Separate Children from Their Parents to Serve Its Political Ends. The report spans the period before, during, and after the administration’s announced end of the Zero Tolerance policy, detailing the work of Young Center Child Advocates to identify and reunify children forcibly separated from their parents.

Join us today at 7:00pm ET/6:00pm CT for a virtual conversation about the report and the impact of family separation throughout U.S. history. The event will feature Young Center Executive Director Maria Woltjen, Sylvie Bello of the Cameroon American Council, Mary Miller Flowers, our Senior Policy Analyst for Child Protection, and Priscilla Monico Marín, our New York Managing Attorney. "In October 2017 the White House issued a wish list of immigration policies it wanted to carry out. First on the list was building the border wall. No. 2 was deporting children who were traveling on their own. That is quietly happening right now, with public health as the excuse."

In case you missed it, The New York Times published an op-ed by Young Center Executive Director Maria Woltjen earlier this week. The op-ed tells the stories of the many children who are returned to persecution and violence due to the Trump administration's cruel and unnecessary decision to close the doors to those seeking protection at our border.

P.S. Our report, our work to reunite families forcibly separated by the government, and our advocacy to protect legal safeguards for children are only made possible with your support. Please consider donating to the Young Center's work here
The Young Center works with the most vulnerable unaccompanied and separated immigrant children in federal custody so their voices are heard and their best interests are protected. We also advocate for an immigration system that treats children as children. To learn more about work, visit theyoungcenter.org or follow us on social media. Click here to donate.
