Thankfully, we are now seeing a sustained suppression of coronavirus cases across the Scottish Borders. This is similar to what we are seeing across Scotland and the rest of the UK.

Getting outdoors and seeing our families will have definitely improved our collective mental health and well being. I certainly feel the benefit of getting back to at least some level of normality.

However, we must be wary of the many challenges ahead. Our economy will need support to get back on its feet. Pupils who have lost out on vital time with their teachers will need help to catch up. And the NHS will be challenged once more to deal with the thousands of operations and procedures that will have been missed over the last several months.

The fantastic team at Kelso Sainsbury's have literally been going the extra mile to help raise money for local charity, Kelso Heartbeat. They have raised a whopping £2877 by taking part in a daily mile challenge and some even 'braved the shave'.
A huge well done to everyone who took part or donated.
SURGERIES

For the time being, my usual monthly surgeries are postponed due to social distancing measures. My office in Hawick also remains closed.
