Dear Mr. xxxxxx,

My team and I remain steadfast in our commitment to the recovery and rebuilding of the Texas Hill Country following the devastating floods on July 4th. I recently had the honor of speaking on the House floor before leading my colleagues in a moment of silence for all those impacted by the flooding. You can view the video here.

My team and I continue to work closely with local officials, state leaders, federal agencies, and non-governmental organizations to help our community in the aftermath.

If you or someone you know has been impacted, I encourage you to contact my offices and visit our website for helpful information here. People can apply online at disasterassistance.gov or through the FEMA app. The FEMA helpline is also available at 1-800-621-3362 from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

God Bless the Texas Hill Country.

UPDATE: NUMBER OF REPORTED MISSING FROM JULY 4TH FLOOD DROPS TO TWO

The Kerr County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that two individuals remain missing from the July 4th flooding. Through extensive follow-up work among state and local agencies, many individuals who were initially reported as missing have been verified as safe and removed from the list. This has been an ongoing effort as investigators worked diligently to verify reports of missing people and confirm their status.

Recovery operations continue throughout the Guadalupe River watershed by local, state, national and international search teams who continue to work to reunite the missing with their families.

FEMA UPDATE: BE AWARE OF FRAUD, HOW TO WORK WITH FEMA

FEMA has issued a public alert regarding possible scams associated with disaster recovery efforts.

  • Claiming to be from FEMA but lacking a photo ID
  • Asking for payment in exchange for disaster aid
  • Requesting banking or personal info

If you receive a letter or visit from FEMA but didn’t apply for aid, contact the FEMA Fraud Branch at [email protected] or call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362 from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Many residents are receiving letters from FEMA that say “declined” at the top. This can be because FEMA needs more information to approve a claim.

“So don’t be discouraged,” Charlie Hastings, Kerr County Engineer said. “Go right back to them and go, ‘What am I missing here? What do you need?’”

TEAM ROY ATTENDS HUNT COMMUNITY EVENT

Our staff attended the Community Resources Open House in Hunt last Wednesday. We will continue to share any upcoming community events.

GAS CAN FREEDOM ACT

Unnecessary and burdensome government regulations have ruined many commonsense products. For example, the gas can. The federal government does not need to be involved in every aspect of our lives, and we don’t need the feds involved in our gas cans.

The Gas Can Freedom Act will eliminate the unnecessary federal regulations that have made gas cans dysfunctional, allowing Americans to return to simple gas cans that work. It is long past time to make everyday products functional again.

BORDER SECURITY FIRST
There has been a recent push in Washington to provide “amnesty” to those here without legal immigration status. I recently joined Benny Johnson to discuss the continued need for border security and to push back on the notion that “amnesty” policy will help our country become more secure.

I will continue to work towards permanent border security changes that shore up our border security woes for the long term. The Trump Administration has been made many good changes through executive action, however it is time Congress works to make those changes permanent, importantly before any one discusses the word “amnesty”.

RECISSIONS

President Trump announced his intention to send a second recissions request to Congress, which includes recissions to the Department of Education.

Recently, the House passed the first recissions package aimed at reducing federal spending by more than $9 billion. I voted in favor of the first recissions package as we have a responsibility to the taxpayers to be accountable with their dollars. As your representative, I’ll continue to advocate for aggressive cuts to federal spending and work to ensure spending measures reflect the priorities and needs of our communities in Texas.
