We just received an update from Saleem, a team member inside Gaza. Humanitarian conditions are worse than they’ve ever been.
"The challenges touch every part of daily life. Cooking over an open fire is a struggle. Finding food is a struggle. Getting bread is a struggle. Accessing cash is a struggle. Every single task demands extraordinary effort, and sometimes even that isn’t enough. No matter how much I try to describe reality, words fall short.
"The suffering here is deeper, the pain greater, and the catastrophe more overwhelming than anything I can fully express."
Last week, I spoke with NPR about this crisis and warned that we may soon be at a point of no return. We must be allowed to scale up our response immediately as famine takes hold in Gaza.
We only have a few days until our Matching Gift Challenge deadline. I’m personally asking you to help our teams scale up our response in Gaza as we gain more access — and other crisis zones around the world.
By contributing, your support will let us respond quickly after crises strike and stay for as long as we’re needed. Please make a gift today and it will be combined with our funding to go 5X as far for families in need ▸

Here are a few emergency relief items that our teams need to respond urgently and ensure families survive:
Water and WASH: During emergencies, access to water is often cut and the risk of disease outbreak is higher. Our teams ensure families have access to clean water and hygiene items like soaps, shampoos, and diapers to ensure hydration and cleanliness. In Gaza, our water trucks are delivering clean water to families. |
Cash assistance: After a tragedy strikes, families lose access to privacy, personal items, and their sense of normalcy. Cash assistance allows families to purchase personal basic necessities and temporarily maintain their livelihood. In Sudan, we’re distributing cash assistance so families can begin rebuilding their lives after fleeing from violence. |
Non-perishable supplies: A key part of our emergency response effort is preparing ahead of time. By stocking up on non-perishable items at our resilience hubs, we can deliver aid in less time. In Puerto Rico, we’re working with communities to create resilience hubs, filled with supplies to help families immediately after the next major weather event hits. |
There’s very little time left before the end of the month. I’m counting on you to show up and strengthen our emergency response efforts across the globe.
Make a generous gift to our Matching Gift Challenge today and deliver relief to families facing conflict, natural disaster, and hunger.
Sincerely,
Kate Phillips-Barrasso
