This morning Politico reported that former Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon has officially thrown his hat into the ring for the state’s top education post, State Superintendent of Public Instruction. While the powers of the job itself are fairly limited, the position has been used as a bully pulpit by the powerful California Teachers Association where the occupant that they place into the post parrots all of their talking points.
