Trump’s Plan for a Sicker, Hungrier, and Poorer America
([link removed])
After the passage of the Big Ugly Bill, Congress immediately jumped into even more draconian cuts. They’re taking the lead from Trump’s spending proposal as they craft a spending bill for the next fiscal year.
Trump’s Defunding Food and Water Safety Bill calls for even greater cuts to essential food and climate programs, leaving us more vulnerable to hunger, climate chaos, pollution, and corporate greed. Some of the biggest cuts are to water infrastructure and safety programs. Trump’s intentions are clear: Dirty water for all.
Tell your members of Congress to stop these dangerous cuts to water and other essentials! ([link removed])

Making Polluters Pay in NJ!
Amid New Jersey’s record-breaking heat this summer, it’s time for Big Oil & Gas to pay up for their role in the climate crisis. The Climate Superfund Act would make this happen.
After months of working with allies to lobby legislators and raise awareness about this bill, a recent poll found that 68% of respondents now support it. Local governments representing over two million New Jerseyans have passed resolutions supporting it, and one-third of state legislators have co-sponsored the bill.
We’ll keep pushing until the state legislature passes this urgently needed legislation!

Victories for local protections against fracking in PA!
In Pennsylvania, we’ve won TWO major victories for zoning laws that protect communities from dirty fracking infrastructure!
Elizabeth Township residents won a landmark court decision ([link removed]) striking down an approval of fracking infrastructure, based on the town’s zoning laws.
Just a few weeks later, we stopped HB502 ([link removed]), a state bill that would fast-track fracking projects and bulldoze over our right to pass protective zoning laws. Now we’re working to keep HB502 language out of the state budget.

12.5 million people endangered by factory farm-fueled toxic algal blooms in Lake Erie
Factory farm pollution is a major contributor to Lake Erie’s harmful algal blooms, endangering a drinking water source that 12.5 million depend on. But the federal plan to rein in the lake’s algal blooms fails to hold factory farms accountable.
A lawsuit has challenged EPA’s approval of this plan in Court, and in July, the Court granted our motion to intervene in the case ([link removed]) (while denying Big Ag’s motion!). With our intervention, we’ll fight for a new plan that will finally address the harms of factory farm pollution on Lake Erie.

Toxic Silence: A Fight Against Legal Immunity for Pesticide Companies
Pesticide companies have paid billions of dollars to settle lawsuits that allege their products cause cancer and other illnesses. This year, Big Ag companies like Bayer, the maker of Roundup, attempted to defend their profits by pushing bills that would give them immunity against future lawsuits.
Join us at our August Livable Future LIVE ([link removed]) to learn more about Big Ag’s efforts to pass these bills and our successful fight to stop one in Iowa.
