Friend,

As Refuse Fascism launches actions today calling for mass noncompliance and non-violent resistance, you will hear this in front of ICE detention centers and on street corners :

In the future they must say: In Trump’s fascist America, in 2025, first they came for the immigrants and millions of decent people said 'NO. in the name of humanity, we refuse to accept a fascist America.' They said 'Trump Must Go Now!' They refused to comply. They acted with courage and conviction, they put their bodies on the line, and they made so much noise and caused so much righteous non-violent disruption in every institution and every corner of society that the regime was not able to impose its terror and was not able to govern the country. And they filled the streets and town squares day after day, in the seat of power and all across the country, with their demand that the regime must go, and they kept coming back, and kept coming back, until the regime was not even able to hold onto power.

What is Non-Compliance?

Mass refusal and noncompliance means people from all walks of life disrupting business as usual. Imagine truly massive numbers of people walking out of work and school, refusing to follow fascist orders, non-violently overwhelming ICE’s ability to violate people’s rights and lives, defying censorship, and flooding the streets with our righteous fury and love for humanity.

See this example of healthcare workers in the Boston area:
July 24  NBC10, Boston: Healthcare Workers Rally Against ICE

A group of health care professionals joined a weekly rally outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement processing center in Burlington Wednesday, airing concerns about the impact of immigration enforcement on their industry.

Doctors, nurses and immigrant advocates demanded an end to immigration raids, saying they are disrupting patient care and creating fear among immigrant health care workers...

Physicians are also witnessing a decline in patients seeking care. Dr. Scott Gilbert, a physician with Atrius Health, said fear is keeping people away from routine checkups and emergency services alike.  “Patients are supposed to come for a yearly physical,” he said. "They're not. Or they're sick and elderly, and they're not coming in."

Gilbert drew parallels between what some immigrants are experiencing now with ICE and what his mother and her childhood friend Anne Frank faced during the Holocaust: “The ICE Gestapo in the thousands just picking people up during the day, covering [their face] with masks — that's no different than what my mom and millions of others experienced in the Hitler and Nazi period...”
