As you may know, Prison Fellowship wants to see the Church behind bars and the Church outside working hand in hand—and ultimately experiencing true unity as the Body of Christ. I pray that the Church in America experiences new revival as we inspire local churches to grow alongside our incarcerated brothers and sisters!
I’m so excited that our staff will have a table at the annual Celebrate Recovery Summit this week in California. This will be a great opportunity to connect with ministries and churches that embrace our vision for redemption and restoration. At the Summit, we’ll have a chance to share the vision of Prison Fellowship and invite Celebrate Recovery chapters to partner with us—or expand their involvement—in Angel Tree Christmas, sports camps, Hope Events, and other prison ministry opportunities.
Both Angel Tree and Celebrate Recovery played a powerful role in the life of Mike, a formerly incarcerated man in Oklahoma. For much of his life, he wanted nothing to do with God. When Christian volunteers came into prison, Mike would make fun of them.
But over time, he and his family experienced the love of Christ, and it transformed his life.
Having a felony conviction on my background, losing a bunch of my rights, and sitting in prison with a 1-year-old son, I was blown away that somebody was still going to … bless him with a Christmas. It was something that I had dreamed of for so long—being able to give my son a Christmas present on his first Christmas. And Angel Tree was the only reason I was able to do that.

The love of a local church changed everything for Mike’s family. We love inspiring local churches and other partners to seek justice, love mercy, and restore hope like never before!
None of us can do this important work alone. That’s why we would love to see you at Restore, our conference for your church leadership and volunteers! We’re hosting Restore in Columbus, Ohio, this Sept. 9–10. Join us to gain practical tools and insights, learn how to build a prison ministry team, discuss the pivotal role your church can play in welcoming people home from prison, and much more.
If you feel called to join us at Restore, please share with your church and register here today. Registration ends soon, so don’t wait! I hope to see you there.
Your prayers and support make new futures possible, one transformed life at a time. As always, if you have any prayer requests, please share them so we can be praying for you.
Thank you for joining us in this redemptive work!
Serving Him with you,
HEATHER RICE-MINUS President and CEO
