New Research on Why Teams Overwork-and What Leaders Can Do About It - Harvard Business Review (No paywall)
Sree VijaykumarWhy do so many high-performing professionals keep working at a punishing pace, even when it damages their health, relationships, and personal well-being? And why do organizational attempts to curb these extreme work hours—no-email-after-hours policies, mental health initiatives, or wellness seminars—so often fail?

Paramount-Skydance Merger Gets the OK From the FCC
Go tell it from the (Paramount) mountain: Donald Trumps Federal Communications Commission has (finally) given its blessing to the merger of Paramount Global and Skydance Media, clearing the way for the roughly $8 billion deal to close more than one year after it was announced. No word on a new name, but the company will begin trading on NASDAQ as PSKY (as opposed to the current name PARA), which hints that the new entity could be called Paramount Skydance. If everything continues as expected, the merger will officially be consummated on August 7, at which point Skydances David Ellison, son of Oracle founder and hardcore Trump supporter Larry Ellison (estimated net worth: nearly $300 billion as of this writing, up from a reported$175 billion three months ago), will take command of the reshaped legacy media company. Also expected to have a top management role: Jeff Shell, the former NBCUniversal CEO fired in 2023 for inappropriate conduct with a female employee, including allegations of sexual harassment, as the Comcast-owned company put it at the time.
